One of the most frustrating computer problems that anybody could experience at least once with their computers is the PC running slow. This means the computer is slow and sluggish, especially during start up and shut down.
By slow and sluggish, it could mean either the windows, as well as the programs, are running super slow or the entire computer slows down completely until such time that one would finally notice that the computer finally froze and locked itself.
This is normally a problem that is unavoidable, especially if there are more than fifty programs running all at once after booting the computer up. Try to get rid of any unwanted files that you think are unnecessary and are eating up a lot of space in your hard drive. You can either delete them entirely or back them up in a DVD or CD if you think you'll be needing them in the future. By doing this, you'll be able to free up space and get your PC going faster than before.
Start up programs would normally slow down one's PC, and since an ordinary PC user would have a lot of programs he or she doesn't use anyway, it is inevitable that the PC running slow, so try to get rid of those useless programs in order to be able to speed up start up time by 20% to 30%.
Once in a while, try to perform a disk de-fragmentation to be able to organize your files and increase your computer's speed even more. This is especially essential if you have tons of programs and files that need to be compressed and organized.
If you're experiencing a slow and malfunctioning PC, it could be the work of a virus or malware that entered your computer while surfing the net. If your anti-virus program isn't able to get rid of the virus, you can buy a new anti-virus program over the net or from the local computer store.

Cleaning up your registry files is also a good solution is your PC is running slow. Every time you install or uninstall a program in your computer, registry files are created and stored in your hard drive, so using a good registry cleaner will do the trick and fix your slow computer.
If all these tips still do not solve the problem, then maybe it's time to take your PC to the repair shop. You might have to back up all of your files before bringing it to the shop since there's a 50% to 60% chance that your computer may need a reformat.
