Running Clothing To Get You Noticed
by John Spoke
Exercise is advised for everyone, be it walking, swimming or running. The latter sport is taken incredibly seriously by millions of Britons and you can see them pounding the pavements every single day. Whilst the most important piece of equipment for a runner is obviously the shoes, some runners always like to look their best, and despite the fact that they are sweating and have bright red faces, they spend a fortune on their running clothing.
Long gone on the days when we pull on our oldest but comfiest jogging pants and tee shirt to go running, heaven forbid!
Today's runners are immaculately turned out and look as if they have just stepped off the catwalk when they are running down the high street. These runners do not want to compromise style for comfort, and thankfully the running clothing available today marries both.
Pants, shorts, tee shirts , vest tops, all are suitable for running in as they are loose and comfortable enough to not restrict any movement, which could result in injury. If you are intending to run in the streets, you really need the best running shoes that you can afford. The pavement is unrelenting, and your knees and ankles are taking punishment with every step you take.
By buying a pair of shoes intended for running as opposed to every day trainers there is extra shock absorbency which should make for a much more comfortable run. Socks should also always be worn to prevent rubbing or chaffing when your feet start to sweat. Loose jogging pants or tracksuit bottoms are ideal, or shorts if it's in the summer months when your muscles will quickly warm up.
A hooded jacket over your tee shirt will do the job perfectly in the winter and when you have warmed up its easy enough to take off and wrap around your waist. Tee shirts and vest stops are far and away the most popular tops to wear while running, and it's so easy to see why that it really isn't worth mentioning.
Some runners like to wear a visor or baseball cap in the summer, or even sunglasses to stop them from squinting.
The general rule for running clothing is loose and comfortable, and that's it. Sure, there are designer labels that produce this type of attire but it tends to be the ladies who go for the look.
Men, on the whole, don't really seem to care how they look while they are running. They are aware that they are hot and perspiring and their hair is stuck to their heads, so see no point in laying out good money on special gear, except shoes obviously.
So there you have it, if you are looking to take up running as a way to keep fit, concentrate on the footwear mainly and just wear what you like on the rest of your body. The only real no-no are graphic tee shirts with expletives and/or gruesome images, you must respect those who are also out and who will see you running.
